Waterfront finally!

It's been a LONG time coming, but my Dad finally got a contract on a house in Colington Harbour on the Outer Banks of NC.  It's been his dream for a while now to have a house on the water where he can keep his boat (note: he doesn't have one yet!).  As is the case already with the place he's renting in KDH, all are welcome to visit anytime.  Hopefully he'll be closing around June 20th.  The second house in Williamsburg is set to close on the 14th of June.  Oh the fun of real estate...and Laurel and I are still renting!  At least we're learning.

Boost LLC - finally a reality

You may be starting to suspect that this space is dedicated to all things powerkiting...that wasn't the intent to begin with, but...I will share one new development along those lines.  Boost LLC is finally the real deal.  I'm now a registered dealer for Flexifoil, and will be selling their kites and other gear through my new company called Boost.  Its very early in the game, so I'm not sure what will become of all this, but it's been really fun to learn so much already.  I'll start selling them primarily through an Ebay store, still yet to be created, and then migrate slowly to my own online presence to avoid Ebay's hefty cuts.  The most fun way I anticipate selling the kites will be just by flying them.  We all know that taking them out seems to generate a lot of attention, and it's a blast to let people give it a shot...now I can do that, and then sell them one afterwards!  So tell friends and family you've got a friend that can get you a 'deal'!  I've got a graphic designer working on the logos, see below for a taste.  She's now working on an icon to go with it that hopefully will speak to the product line I'll be carrying, which at this point looks like kites most of the year and then maybe snowboard stuff in the winter time.  We'll see!  That's half the fun, I have no idea where all this might go...but for now, I'll be keeping my day job.

Happy Birthday Dad - Here's an ice-pack

Not like we need too much prodding to make a trip down to the Outer Banks...but we went down this weekend for Dan and Ashley Hibbard's wedding and to celebrate my Dad's 79th birthday.  Beach wedding...not a bad way to do it, if I do say so myself!  Birthday celebration was great too...gave my Dad a swift kick to the head (check out the latest pics).  Miss the beach already...can't wait to go back soon.

Power Kiting in Chicago

Well...quite the interesting experience over the weekend!  Laurel and I took advantage of a break in Chicago's insanely long winter over the weekend and got outside to fly the bullet.  As usually happens when we've flown it here, people stand around and watch like I've got a UFO on the end of the lines.  However, this time one of the onlookers was a reporter for the Chicago Tribune.  I gave him the control bar and let him drag himself through the sand for a bit in his nice clothes and he was hooked!  He hung around for a while to get some info for a piece he said he was writing and then left.  Shortly afterwards, a Tribune photographer came for about an hour to take some photos for the story.  The picture actually made it on the front page of the Tribune and also got coverage in the Tribune's other paper, Red Eye.  Fun times!

Nags Head New Years Take Two

Rang in the new year for a second time down on the Outer Banks of NC with friends from near and far...I think a tradition has begun.  Who wouldn't want to start a tradition of heading down to the beach when its freezing everywhere else?!  Fun was there for the taking once again...although we were stuck with slightly less wind than last year along with Lake Atlantic surf conditions.  See ya'll next year...same time, same place!  Next time I'll bring DRY wood...and lots more lighter fluid.  Check out the pics -->
